Where it started

Built from the ground up.

Mountainside Tattoo opened in downtown Bellows Falls, Vermont in 2006. The early days were simple, honest, and built one client at a time: tattoo flash on the walls, display cases, a small studio, and a lot of determination.

Not long after opening, the outside of the building was painted in the red, yellow, and black colors many clients still remember. That storefront became part of the identity of Mountainside Tattoo and a familiar sight in downtown Bellows Falls.

The first shop

The original Mountainside Tattoo location was the beginning of a nearly two-decade run in Bellows Falls. It was where the name, the work, and the client relationships started taking shape.

Inside the beginning

A small studio with flash, tools, artwork, and the kind of energy that comes from building something with your own hands.

Growing into something bigger

A home on the Square.

A few years later, Alex purchased a building on the Square in Bellows Falls and moved Mountainside Tattoo into a larger, more visible location. For many longtime clients, this became the version of Mountainside Tattoo they remember most.

The studio became part of downtown life, serving clients from Bellows Falls, Springfield, Westminster, Chester, Charlestown, and well beyond.

The expansion years

More room for the work.

As the business continued to grow, Mountainside Tattoo eventually moved again into a much larger space with both floors and a full basement. The studio had evolved from a small startup into one of the region's established tattoo and piercing destinations.
